Rothbury, Northumberland

Ever since 1975 the band has been travelling down to Rothbury in Northumberland to play at various events like the Rothbury Traditional Music Festival, Alwinton Agricultural Show and, more recently, the World Tour of Coquetdale. Below are pictures from various occasions over the years.

Strakonice International Bagpipe Festival

The band has been travelling to this festival since 1978, back when it was still Czechoslovakia. The first time we were there we got roped into playing a football match against a local team. Thankfully we have photo evidence of this! There are more pictures of the festival from various years.

The pictures below were taken by Stephen Mansfield. The pictures are from a combination of the Neilston Cattle Show and the Barrhead Gala Day between the years of 1976 and 1988. If you want to see more pictures taken from Stephen please visit his website on https://photoarchiver.co.uk

Japan

During the 90s the band was very lucky to have the chance to travel to Japan. We played two years at a festival in Huis Ten Bosch near Nagasaki and once in Tokyo. As the band were too busy playing, the photos shown are a lot of what the band managed to do on their off time. In 2009 we were again lucky to travel to Japan to play at another festival. This time the festival was in Hakuba, Nagano in the Alpine area of Japan and we were there annually until the last time in 2014.

Nuremberg Ceilidh & Burns Supper Weekend

Gothenburg, Sweden

In 1983 the Gothenburg City Pipe Band travelled to Scotland to play at a festival in Glasgow. While the were in Scotland, they band actually stayed with members of our band and great friendships were made. Consequently the very next year we travelled to Gothenburg where the band managed to play at a recording studio.
